A history of building momentum together

  1. Founding and early growth

    2014-2017

Instaloft was founded by Rob Stone with just £200 on a credit card and a determination to build a better future for his family. After an accident forced him away from manual installations, he shifted his focus to building a business with scalable systems and processes, creating the foundations for future growth.

  2. First wave of expansion

    2018 - 2019

Having established a strong presence in the Midlands, Instaloft began expanding across the UK through a regional depot network. The opening of the Reading depot in 2018 marked its first move beyond the Midlands, followed by expansion into Peterborough in 2019 and additional depots across South Wales, Essex, the North West and the South East. In September 2019, Instaloft also acquired a 33% shareholding in Loftzone, strengthening its relationship with the manufacturer of its core product.

  3. National rollout and operational scale

    2020-2021

As demand continued to grow, Instaloft expanded its depot network across the UK. Standardised installation methods, centralised marketing and booking systems, and consistent operational processes enabled the business to grow while maintaining the same level of quality and customer service nationwide.

  4. Diversification and group expansion

    2022

In January 2022, Instaspark was launched, extending the business into electrical services including EV charging, smart home technology and domestic electrical installations. This broadened the group's offering and created new opportunities to support customers throughout the home.

  5. GarageFlex acquisition

    2022

In February 2022, Instaloft acquired GarageFlex, a specialist in garage storage and transformation solutions. The acquisition expanded the group's expertise beyond lofts, allowing it to help homeowners maximise more of their unused space.

  6. Continued Growth & Scale

    2023-present

As the business continued to grow beyond £20 million in annual turnover, Ben Crouch was appointed Group Managing Director to lead the next stage of growth. He was joined by Andy Thomas as Group Finance Director, Chris Stott as Group Operations Director and Davy Thomas as Group Chief Marketing Officer, alongside the launch of The Storage Nook Company as the latest addition to the group.

  7. Operating model

    today

Instaloft has built a consistent way of working through centralised marketing and lead generation, structured sales and booking processes, standardised installations and regular performance tracking across every region. This approach has enabled the business to expand into new locations while maintaining high standards and a consistent customer experience.
